  1. just me! Says:

i think that they are as attractive as a real diamond and if you are happy with one go for it! don’t worry about what the brain-washed masses will have to say about diamonds - they have all fell under the spell of the greedy money-grubbing jewelers!
choose the stone you like, the ring you like, and to heck with what any of us think!
    congrats on your engagement!

  2. Harmony Says:

I have no problem with them, and as long as the wearer is happy with them I think they are a reasonable way to save money. Also, they are good for people who are socially conscious and do not wish to wear mined stones. The only thing I do not like is a lot of times really bulky, gawdy jewelry is made with them because it can be done at a lower cost.

  3. SirenSong Says:

There is no reason a diamond should cost as much as a car.

That said, if you put a cut man-made diamond next to a cut natural diamond, even a jeweler can not tell the difference without special equipment. Honestly, people around you, unless you hang out with the likes of the Hiltons or other superficial socialites, don’t care how much your diamond cost, nor could they tell if it was natural or not unless you offer that information. A lab-created diamond does have the exact same chemical compound as a natural stone.

  4. Tarah T Says:

i wouldnt mind having one. the only person who could tell would be a gewler. they are alot cheaper and look just as nice! go for it. no one would know. i wouldnt buy a man made colored stone because you can tell the difference in the color.

  5. Backgammoner Says:

Call me old-fashioned, but there’s a reason that the tag line for the diamond industry is, “A Diamond is forever.”

It’s because diamonds are the real thing, and it will mean so much more if you got the real thing instead of a fake one. It will be in the back of your mind every time you look at your ring that it’s fake.

You can’t SEE the difference, but you will FEEL it.

Imagine a $20,000 honeymoon instead, or put that money down on a home, or pay off interest earning credit card debt, or donate some to those who are less fortunate, and spend less on the ring.

    Best of luck !!

  6. Ms. X Says:

Definitely go for the man-made diamond, and laugh all the way to the bank about that $19,000 you’ll save. They’re just, if not more beautiful as a nature-made diamond, plus no chance of a blood diamond.

BTW, man-made diamonds are just as real as nature-made diamonds: same chemical structure. It’s just that the heat and pressure is applied in a lab instead of deep underground.

  7. tamara m Says:

At least if you get a certified synthetic diamond you can rest assured the money you pay doesn’t fund terrorism! Natural diamonds are nice but getting certified ‘blood free’ ones is a pain in the you know where!

  8. sunny_happy_daisy Says:

My ring has an enhanced diamond in it. It is a natural diamond that has has the color artificially improved and imperfections drilled out and the holes filled. If I look really closely I can tell it has been altered but it still looks beautiful and unless they are holding it right up to their face no one can tell.

  9. Denise V Says:

I don’t suggest giving a man-made diamond and passing it off as a real one. My finance gave me a man-made diamond. It’s beautiful. No one has ever asked if it’s real. They just compliment me on it.

  10. LBB-06/05/09 Says:

go with man made ones, they are the same rock no one can tell the difference and look at the price

they are just created by man instead of nature this will be common soon

did you know that all pearls (salt being the expensive ones) are ma n made
i worked on a salt pearl farm (no oyster is found on the botom of the ocean any more) and the breed these large oysters and impregnate them with a seed for the oyster to grow a pearl around. then they harvest it and place another inside.

all pearls are now man made. soon all diamonds will be too. doesnt mean the pearls are any less of pearls in fact a lot of them come out more prefect and more flawless than ones that are founnd. much like diamonds

  11. Garnet Glitter Says:

If the cost of a natural diamond reflected their rareness they would be one of the cheapest gemstones out there…the ONLY reason they cost so much is because one diamond cartel, De Beer’s, has a monopoly on all jewelry quality diamonds, their ‘diamonds are for ever’ campaign has cleverly brainwashed people into thinking a ‘real’ diamond is a must, so they’ve created the demand and can ask out rageous prices…..

If you can save money and not fall into the obvious trap with a lab-created gemstone…go for it.The only differences are…lab created are perfect, natural are not……….lab created does not destroy people and places with mining.

I don’t like natural emeralds…cloudy & full of inclusions…..lab created? I drool over their crystal clear deep green perfection…and physically they are identical to natural emeralds.

Ditto on all lab created gems.

Save your money, Hon…and KUDOS for being smart!

  12. Lily8407 Says:

Diamonds are diamonds. They are chemically exactly the same as a natural diamond. The only difference is one was created in a lab and therefore costs less, and the other was created naturally and (unfortunately, usually) mined in poor conditions. My boyfriend recently told me he was saving for a ring and I actually suggested a lab created diamond. They are cheaper and you know no one was hurt or killed for your ring. I’m not sure where some people got the idea that it’s fake. If it’s the same makeup chemically, it’s the same substance. Oxygen’s oxygen isn’t it? But, as some people cannot get past the fact that it wasn’t created naturally, you should probably check with her first. That might also tell you something about her as well.
