It depends, they weight the jewerly and go by that!

Depends on the place and the weight of the jewelry.

You’d be better off selling it to a jeweler that can give you a value on the stones. At a pawn shop they just give you what the gold is worth by weight.

As a former pawnbroker, may I answer this?
Your item(s) will be valued on a number of points.
1.) Raw material value: whether it is made up of gold, platinum, or silver; the “melt value” will be an important component of the overall value assigned.
2.) Diamonds, precious, and semi precious stones will be key to adding additional value. However, if a diamond or diamonds make up the major value of the item, more attention will be given to them in calculating the final value.
3.)Intrinsic value, craftsmanship or brand will be the important third leg that might add much more value: such a ring made by Cartier.

Rarely ever will you recieve the retail price of your item as the jewelry industry has extremely high markups at the point of sale.

pawm shops aren’t going to give you much if anything .

they are out to make money and do not make money by giving people value for there stuff they bring in.

i suggest finding an actually jewellery store or someone who specialise in that .
