My opinion is that this is posted in the wrong section - try the ‘alternative’ science bit.
Oh, and that they don’t really work.

I think that’s rubbish! Besides, that’s not even SCIENCE…Think over it!

If you want to change your fate, carry a brick. A solid, heavy brick. You can use it for building a house or for throwing it at hostile persons.
You can also change your fate, by owning a diamond. Usually you improve it better, by making this diamond a gift to somebody special.
But everything else about gems or stones and how they influence your fate, is plain rubbish created by superstitious people over centuries.

let me give you an example.
probably the most well-known of all the “action” stones is Amethyst. Even the name of the stone came from its attributed ability to prevent a wearer from becoming inebriated. A- without Methys- drunkeness.
But there was a catch. It was a good one, too.
In order for Amethyst to prevent you from getting drunk, you have to refrain from drinking alcohol while wearing it.
No Freaking Kidding.
So… assuming that “people never learn”, then all of the other attributes of stones were likely the same. This stone will keep you from a broken heart (just don’t hang around girls). That stone will even out your temper (just stay away from girls and mothers-in-law).

Astrology is ancient drivel. Horoscopes are a garbage product of drivelling frauds called astrologers.
Newspaper and magazine horoscopes are prepared by tossing the “reading” for each day in a bag and taking them out one at a time until there are twelve. These 12 are then placed under the headings of Taurus and Gemini etc, printed and published.
Magic stones and crystals are also ancient drivel, revived in the past several years by frauds and fakes to relieve people of their money.
Ancient drivel + ancient drivel = ancient drivel.

They, like the stars, have absolutely no effect upon our lives whatsoever, at least in the sense you mean.

they don’t

This is all superstitious nonsense, and has no scientific basis.

They’re idiots.

Scientifically it does not work. But if people trust and wear it, that might help them psychologically.
